What an image. I can picture it. This happened to a young joyrider in a story I wrote a few years ago. By the time he had coasted backwards to the bottom of the hill, the path was almost ten feet to his right. Finally he steered right to correct, but coasted to a halt parallel to the hill and still short of the road. He shifted into reverse, nudged the accelerator, and let out the clutch, but hardly moved. Tried to go forward-- same. Getting out to investigate, he saw the left rear tire ringed with wet mud and sunk into the ground an inch or two. He had never been stuck before, but he was now! He found a shovel in the trunk and began digging around the tire, but kept imagining what it must have looked like spinning. After a moment, he could no longer resist the urge to scramble into the driver's seat again, start working the pedals, lean out, and watch. Seeing it spin even slightly and quietly got him incredibly excited. Soon he had the car rocking, and the longer he kept at it, the more he enjoyed it. He forgot all about trying to regain the road behind him and surged ahead, only to find himself stuck even worse.

How about short black Lederhosen, the smoother and tighter-fitting the better?

Yes, a seat like that would be a plus, especially leather or a good imitation. Does anyone ever sit on a pillow arranged lengthwise, with one end bunched up in front squeezed between your legs?

As a change of pace, how about an original VW bug-- especially a souped-up one with a larger engine and mud tires installed. They are popular in Latin America for off-roading and mudding. Search Youtube for "Fusca na lama".

@rauhbein1 I'm not sure how intentional it was originally, but you see other pickup trucks tooling around and the stuck guys are not asking for help.

This is a good one to download and examine with VLC player with its ability to zoom in, slow down, or view frame-by frame. e.g. ca. 15'39" While you can. Youtube's army of feminist/woke vigilantes are apt to do their thing as soon as they notice. Some vids stay up for years and others are taken down immediately. You never know where they will strike next.

Lotsa sand stucks on this channel, but this one's in the mud, and they eventually go wild. Can't tell me they don't enjoy it.

Who knows this game? I've installed GTA5 and tried to run it, but it starts with the story line and probably goes from one scenario to another. Is there a sandbox mode where you can just drive cars? I even bought a book about the game but it's no help. Also interested in the "Real Life" set of mods, for which there's a ton of Youtube videos, but I can't even find these mods let alone install and use them. Seems to be a black art.

Amazing! Does the program solicit feedback? Maybe it learns. Maybe others have asked for the same kind of story and it has experience by now. Has anyone come up with a term for a closet-case stucklover?

While waiting at the barber shop yesterday, about 10 a.m., on the television was a show comparing experienced and inexperienced drivers of big rigs in Alaska in winter time. One of them (presumably an inexperienced guy) found himself going too fast downhill on an icy road. So he steered into a snowbank on the shoulder and eventually came to a halt, whereupon of course he was stuck. I should have tried to find out what the channel was. Does this program ring a bell with anyone?

These are two different questions and they don't need the same answer. For me, inexperienced driver yes! But there's nothing wrong with off-road; it has way more possibilities for a long session undisturbed. I dream of watching a young driver (or two) who are not only inexperienced in general, but have no experience at all with standard transmission. Somehow they find themselves in a stick shift vehicle off-road (perhaps they find it parked there deserted and become curious enough to try a little joy ride). They've barely started to learn how to shift gears and let the clutch out without killing the engine before they get stuck.

Unfortunately these efforts have a difficult time turning a profit, despite the interest and potential market, because of piracy. It would be a labor of love.

It's just another of the developments that make me thankful I wasn't born any later than I was.

Don't you love it how he thinks he's gotten unstuck after just a minute, but it proves quite otherwise?

I've always dreamed of owning a Mustang-- and by always, I mean ever since they came out. They are great for stucks, too.
