Other way to get stuck in the snow is to stop and then try to get going. If it is cold out, the more you spin it will form an icy layer in the rut until you are sooooo stuck
Stuck at Work
-
Last winter, I was sitting in my office watching it snow all day. I had meetings with senior management so I had to dress nice. By the end of the day the parking lot was deep in snow and had icy ruts. I was sitting in my office watching coworkers spin their tires and a few get stuck and need help to get going. I could hear the sound of tires spinning, that zzzzzzzzzzzzz sound
Wow, that was nice to watch. I had a bunch of stuff to finish up and I was the last one to leave. Worried that I would get stuck, but hoping i would get stuck in a way. I remember slipping on my coat and my leather gloves. Thinking about the drive home. Worried about getting stuck somewhere
I went out to my car wondering if being the last to leave was a bad idea. Starting the car with a gloved hand, deciding to wait for the car to warm up and let the ice on the windshield start melting. So cold in the car. I got out and scrapped the windshield trying to get my nice leather gloves wet. My feet cold in the dressy boots standing in the snow. Brrr, it is so cold out.
I get back in the car and put the car in reverse, backing out, hearing the tires crunch in the snow. I was parked in the back and there hadn't been much traffic where I parked. I put the car in drive with a gloved hand, thinking ok, so far so good, gently pushing on the gas with my boot to pull forward. I get a few feet then I hear the sound of my tires spinning. Oh crap. I give it more gas with my boot, thinking I can do this. The tires spin but I dont move. I was scared but also turned on as gave it more gas with my boot. Gloved hands gripping the steering wheel and shifter.

I give it more gas, then more, the car slowly starts moving. I was relieved, but in a way I didnt want the stuck feelings to end. I'm driving across the parking lot, tires spinning at timers. Nervous that there was no one to help if I got stuck.
It was so quiet outside and so very cold as I head up the hill at the entrance to the office park. Lots of traffic had left this so very very icy. I'm going up the hill, doing ok, trying to go easy on the gas with my boot. Trying to keep my momentum without giving it too much gas and making the tires spin. I can hear my new leather gloves making that squeaking sound as i grip the steering wheel tightly. The soft leather gloves. Feels sensual in a way.
As I go up the hill, thinking ok, dont spin, knowing if the tires spin in the icy ruts, I might not make it up the hill. About half way up the tires start spinning in the icy ruts. I'm being really careful to not give it too much gas. That zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound, then the car stops moving. I give it more gas with my boot. Come on come on, tires spinning, but I'm not moving. No no no, I cant be stuck
