“Sink and Swim”
It was the last day of summer, and Tyler wanted to go to the beach for one last day of fun before starting his next semester of college. He loaded up his truck, and head straight there
There were no paved parking lot, so he had to park in the sand. He found it a little weird that even though it was a nice Sunday afternoon, there was nobody at the beach but him. He decided to brush it off, and made a beeline through the sand toward the ocean.
After a couple hours of fun, Tyler headed back to his truck. As he trekked through the sand, he noticed that it was sucking at his feet, almost like mud. Even though he was pretty far away from the water now, the sand felt very moist under his feet.
All of a sudden, Tyler felt himself sinking in the quicksand. He trekked with all his might, desperately moving toward his truck. Once inside, he started it and drove through the sand to get back to the road.
It didn’t take long for the quicksand to coat the treads of his tires. Before he knew, Tyler got stuck. He pounded the gas pedal as hard as he could, but the truck wouldn’t go forward or back even an inch—it just slowly sank down. Eventually it sank so deep that it seeped into the tailpipe and forced his truck to shut off.
Tears in his eyes, Tyler cranked the engine, begging it to start again. But it was too late—both for Tyler and his truck. The sand swallowed them whole, then reformed as though nothing had happened
